Verdict
For players in supported territories, The New World has the clearer documented PC install route and published RAM and storage figures. Origin Classic suits eligible players who prefer its documented job-class structure. Its terms exclude US users; the sources checked do not establish US service for The New World either.
Ragnarok: The New World and Ragnarok Origin Classic are separate Gravity Game Vision games for PC and mobile in Southeast Asia. The Ragnarok: The New World vs Origin Classic choice comes down to their install routes, account support, published requirements and cost models. We checked the official pages on Oct. 17, 2026.
The short answer: The New World, for most PC players. It has a Steam listing and published RAM and storage figures, and the Origin Classic pages we read have no specs. Origin Classic wins one round: its terms name Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, while The New World's pages name no country. This is a documentation verdict, not a gameplay one.
| At a glance | The New World | Origin Classic | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| PC install route (official pages) | Steam, or the “PC Download” button on the official site | JoyMaker installer on the official site; terms also describe Windows through Steam or an equivalent service | The New World |
| Account continuity | Publisher says progress syncs across phone, tablet and PC | Terms say one account and one server environment sync progress across mobile and PC | Tie |
| Published PC specs | 12 GB RAM and 30 GB storage minimum; 16 GB RAM recommended; OS, CPU, GPU blank | None on the pages we read | The New World |
| Listed territories | “Southeast Asia server”; no country list | Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and others | Origin Classic |
| Cost model | Free To Play, with in-app purchases | “Operates monthly pass system”; no price shown | Tie |
| Design pitch | Open-world, cross-platform MMORPG | Classic job-class system, simplified growth | Tie |
Which Ragnarok is easier to get running on a PC?
The New World, narrowly. Its official pages document two PC routes and some specs; Origin Classic's site offers a launcher but publishes no PC requirements. Both publishers describe account continuity across PC and mobile.
Install route and sign-in
The New World installs from Steam or from the “PC Download” button on its Southeast Asia site. Steam still requires a Gravity account created through the launcher. Origin Classic's site offers a Windows installer for the JoyMaker launcher. Its terms also cover Windows through Steam or an equivalent service, although the home page we read showed no Steam button. Our Ragnarok: The New World PC guide covers the documented Steam steps. Edge: The New World, because both routes are visible on its official pages.
Account continuity
The publishers document a tie. The New World's Steam description says progress syncs across phone, tablet and PC. Origin Classic's terms say one account synchronizes gameplay progress across mobile devices and PC in a single server environment. Neither statement proves that transfers work flawlessly in practice. Edge: Tie.
Languages
The New World wins on client-language documentation. Steam marks English, Indonesian, Thai and Simplified Chinese for interface, audio and subtitles. Origin Classic's website can display English, Thai, Indonesian, Korean and Traditional Chinese, but a website selector is not a client-language list. Edge: The New World.
Published requirements
Steam lists 12 GB of RAM and 30 GB of storage as The New World's minimum, and 16 GB of RAM as recommended; OS, processor and graphics are blank. Origin Classic's site and Gravity's announcement list nothing. Low-spec PC reality check: neither game tells you whether an older laptop copes. Edge: The New World, only because it publishes figures.
Listed territories
Origin Classic's terms name Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei. They explicitly exclude users in the United States, European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Brazil. Origin Classic is therefore not a recommendation for readers in those excluded territories. The New World's Steam FAQ names a “Southeast Asia server”; the official pages we read list no countries, so that does not establish US availability either. Edge: Origin Classic, for a written territory answer, not wider access.
Does either game win on design and cost?
Neither wins on what is published. Cost cannot be ranked without a price, and the two pitch different games.
Design pitch
Steam calls The New World the “first open-world RO,” a cross-platform MMORPG with job changes at any time and free stat resets. Gravity says Origin Classic keeps “the original Ragnarok Online universe and job class system” while “simplifying the growth mechanics.” Both are publisher claims. Edge: Tie.
Cost model
The New World is Free To Play on Steam and flagged for in-app purchases, including chance-based ones. Gravity's launch announcement says Origin Classic “operates monthly pass system,” but it gives no price. Edge: Tie, because the published labels do not support a fair total-cost comparison.
Which Ragnarok should you pick?
For players in supported territories, The New World has the stronger documented PC install route. Origin Classic suits eligible players who want its written territory list or its job-class structure. Readers in the United States should not treat either recommendation as confirmation that their region is served.
Pick The New World if you want a Steam listing and RAM and storage figures before you install, and the open-world, cross-platform pitch appeals. Skip it if you expect a native PC interface: its own FAQ says it is “not a purely native PC game.”
Pick Origin Classic if you play from Malaysia or another country on its written territory list, or you prefer the job-class structure and monthly pass Gravity describes. Switching cost: these are separate games and services, so progress in one is not presented as progress in the other.
The honest caveat: Neither publisher provides enough PC specifications for a performance verdict.
How we compared them: Publisher documentation checked Oct. 17, 2026; each Edge reflects a cited fact and its limits.
What we didn't test: Installation, performance, combat or progression. No session details support a hands-on verdict.
The verdict: In a supported territory, pick Origin Classic for its documented regional service or the job-class system Gravity describes; pick The New World for its documented PC install routes. Origin Classic excludes US users, and the sources checked here do not establish US service for The New World.
